Paddlefish season at Lake of the Ozarks!
March 15th marked the beginning of the season for paddlefishing. Some of the best areas for this type of "fishing" are located around the lake area. Bagnell Dam, Mari-Osa, and Pikes camp area are among the most visited becasue of their easy access and amenities. The season ends on April the 30th and will mark the end of this alternative (and rigorous) style of fishing, also known as "snagging". During season the Osage river may be utilized from the Hwy 54 bridge all the way to the Missouri river. If you have never experienced this type of fishing, be forewarned! You will likely be exhausted and bruised after a day of snagging, and the large treble hooks used in this sport can be dangerous in the manner they are used, but the eventual reward can be great.
A great sport for father and son, mother and daughter, or anyone else that is a lover of fishing and the outdoors! Always consult with the proper authorities for regulations, size and fish limits.
