Osage river bridge getting a "stimulus"
The Osage river is getting a new bridge! Located approximately 8 miles NE of Lake of the Ozarks in Tuscumbia, Missouri. The 76 year old bridge is well on its way to being temporarily reinforced, and then totally phased out by the end of 2010 with a new bridge in place at a total estimated cost of $8.5 million dollars.
Work began almost immediately after President Obama signed the newest stimulus package. Missouri is on the board to receive up to $4.3 billion dollars from the economic stimulus set in place and the Osage river bridge is one of several projects currently in the works. Construction on the bridge is being overseen by APAC-Kansas City.
The bridge was origionally constructed in 1933 and recently has received several "bad marks" after the recent deadly collapse of a bridge in Minnesota.
The Osage river is an arm of the larger Missouri river and is known for it's great cat-fishing, and still well preserved ecology.
